
Rocky Run Fire Company in Media, PA is accepting resumes for the position of part-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in order to establish a talent pool for anticipated openings throughout 2022.
Rocky Run is primarily a volunteer fire department located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, that serves Middletown Township and surrounding areas. On average, we respond to 600 fire calls and are on pace for 200 emergency medical calls in addition to routine patient transports. At this time, we are looking to expand our current group of volunteer EMTs with a small paid staff in anticipation of continued growth throughout 2022.
All applicants must be available for a minimum of two (2) 12-hour shifts per week of which may include two (2) weekend shifts per month. Applicants must be available for two (2) legal holiday shifts per year. Availability must include weekdays, weeknights, and weekend shifts as dictated by business needs and call volume.
Responsibilities
- Render competent patient care in both pre-hospital and inter-facility setting
- Compliance with all applicable protocols for emergency treatment and transportation as per company policy and/or other regulations
- Safely operate and maintain an emergency vehicle and compliance with all laws pertaining to the operation of an emergency vehicle
- Safely operate and maintain all equipment and tools relevant to an EMT
- Communicate patient information to other members of the health care profession
- Communicate information through the proper “chain of command”, to management and other employees of RRFC
- Compliance with local, state and regional emergency medical service operations, regulations, and laws
- Accurately and completely document information required by RRFC and the Department of Health
- Demonstrate, by attendance and documentation, compliance with the RRFC and/or the Department of Health requirements for continuing education and licensure
- Submit all continuing education documentation to RRFC management on a quarterly basis
- Demonstrate physical ability to perform all tasks required in the performance of duties as an EMT
- Clean and maintain the cleanliness of RRFC property, including, but not limited to, vehicles, equipment, buildings and surrounding areas
- Accurately and completely document the required information on the RRFC Daily Vehicle Inspection form and the RRFC Daily Equipment Inventory form
- Maintain a clean appearance, demonstrating courteous, professional and ethical behavior, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with other members of the EMS Health Care System
- Continually improve and upgrade the skills and knowledge of the emergency medical profession
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Frequently lift and/or move more than 125 pounds including lifting, moving and carrying patients up and down stairs
Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Current Pennsylvania EMT certification with EMSVO endorsement & completion of required PA DOH EMS Protocol Updates
- Approved CPR for Healthcare Providers Certification
- Annual Bloodborne Pathogens Course Completion
- Hazardous Materials Awareness
- ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications
